The Brazilian global Coutinho had been linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer and the Catalan giants reportedly had a number of bids rejected for the player, including one that was worth £138 million.
Fitting Jurgen Klopp's system perfectly, the 25 year old's pace drives fear into opponents and translates into real advantages for Liverpool in terms of goals and creating space for others. He has admitted, though, that he was honoured to be targeted by Barcelona.
That is unlikely to be the case, but the Reds are bracing themselves for interest nonetheless.
"I have always respected Liverpool, the fans, the players and the directors".
The Brazilian midfielder was the subject of repeated offers from the Catalan club, all of which were turned down. Liverpool is a great club worldwide.
Coutinho also insisted he was not hurt by how the situation unfolded.
"I have to work, I'm focused on working hard, having a good season, if possible, and, of course, in the end, doing it in a great way to help the team, honouring the shirt and thinking about the team and the Selecao (Brazil)".
He was asked directly by ESPN Brazil whether he would follow his friend Suarez to Camp Nou but Coutinho, who signed a five-year deal in January, replied: 'Not that I know of. That has not changed.
"Liverpool's front three are already brilliant, so I'd take the money for Coutinho and that's one way you can get the back-four better". It is all in the past'.
