Having scored four goals in the Premier League just once in Mourinho's first season in charge at Old Trafford - against next weekend's opponents Leicester City in September - United have now managed it twice in the space of seven days.
"Of course it was a tough game, especially in the first half, but we were patient, we were doing what we had to do", he said.
"We absolutely need more quality players to come in, so we have a chance of being competitive this year", Clement said. The players on the bench, great quality.
"We work for each other and that makes it easier for us". Jose Mourinho has them playing clinical cut-throat football and the United faithful love it!
"The team is confident, the team starts the game confident, the team starts the second half confident. Obviously, my plans were four but I also told (club Executive Vice Chairman) Ed Woodward, "No pressure from me, do what you think is best for the club", Mourinho told reporters on Friday.
"The team is consistent and confident and we have to carry on". As defenders, as a group, you always want a clean sheet and two times in a row is a good start. Everything was very calm and under control.
"The first yellow card is a little bit out of context because I saw Jonathan [Moss] had a criteria where certain action wouldn't bring yellow cards. The most important thing is that we keep doing the same". It was the last minute of the first half when the Frenchman scored and Man United were scrapping through. They didn't really test David de Gea with the possession they had and United defensively looked very, very solid.
Just 60 seconds later United were on the counter again. Yet, Man United were able to overcome nervousness in the final part of the match.
When asked about the incident following the game, the midfielder added: "The second one, no. We try to win and play as well as we are doing". Up until the second goal the difference was a set-play and generally the shape was good.
