Brett Hundley, Taysom Hill shine behind Aaron Rodgers in preseason

Hill ripped off two important runs - including a long, lion-hearted touchdown scamper - to help the Packers hold off Washington's late rally at FedEx Field.

It's likely that in the event of a catastrophic injury to Rodgers, either Brett Hundley or Joe Callahan could step up and lead Green Bay to some victories. He entered the game with 14 minutes, 52 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and led Green Bay on three drives. He did, and looked sharp - throwing a touchdown pass and going 6-of-8 for 37-yards. The offense wasn't clicking, and the defense had surrendered 153 points in 4 weeks. Aaron Jones seems to be the current third-place option behind fellow rookie Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery, though practice has answered that question more than last week's game against the Eagles.

The 'Skins were still unable to run the ball with much productivity, averaging less than three yards (2.9) per carry.

Cousins, who is coming off consecutive seasons that saw him break the franchise record for passing yards, has yet to get the chance to throw to his favorite target, tight end Jordan Reed, who sat out training camp and both preseason games to date with an injured toe. And since this is the second preseason game for both teams this summer, we should see a lot more of the familiar faces for both squads. He has thrown just once each to Pryor and Josh Doctson, the receivers that the Redskins are most counting on to replace the 2,000 yards lost with the departure of free agents DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. There were two five-man rushes with just the slot corner blitzing. He is using the August games to create an identity for his defense and set the tone for the regular season.

The running game is in trouble, too.

Further back on the depth chart, where rookies are trying to distinguish themselves and second- and third-teams are vying for roster spots, there were some bright spots.

The notion that the Packers are using blitzes they might employ against Seattle would be anathema in most National Football League circles, but Capers decided this summer he wanted his defense to practice them under game-like conditions. The [outside] reaction previous year?

"He had a nice run on a fourth down to get us a first down and then the touchdown", Rodgers said of Hill. Still, if you go by last week, the Packers are an early favorite to take home a win here.

If not for that Crowder catch, the Washington area would be in a full-blown panic about the lack of production from the offensive starters.
