Phoenix Suns reveal new Nike uniforms

"In preparation for its role as the NBA's uniform provider, Nike's research included creating 3D-body maps of players, which led to finding ways to better tailor the kits' weight, fit and construction". The biggest difference is that Nike has a different style of collar and shoulder on jerseys than the previous designer, adidas, has.

This season also is the first in which teams are allowed one sponsored advertisement on their jerseys. Aside from the MLS, it is a move we have not seen in the majority of American professional sports.

The Lakers also enlisted the help of rookie sensation Lonzo Ball (weird to say that when he hasn't even played a real game yet, but it's true) to show what the new uniforms look like in action. For those that have not, Heavy has posted leaks from other sources.

Nike's take on the basketball jersey is an interesting one, with a "scapula shaped armhole", that gives the jersey a slimmer look from the mid-torso upwards.

Nike announced last month it is no longer working with traditional home and road jerseys.

The Lakers revealed their Icon, Association and Statement jerseys via their official Twitter account Friday, and they look pretty familiar. The Lakers and Clippers will both don their new apparel on opening October 19 in the teams' 2017-18 season opener. The main home and away jerseys (the longtime purple and gold ones for the Lakers) are called the association and icon jerseys, respectively.

Nike will use different materials than Adidas, and there were small tweaks made to several uniforms.
