UFC Glasgow: Santiago Ponzinibbio registers huge upset victory over Gunnar Nelson

If a jab of mine did this, imagine my right hand.

"Some people might think I'm being put there to lose to Gunnar Nelson".

Jul 16, 2017; Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom; Joanne Calderwood (red gloves) reacts after her loss to Cynthia Calvillo (not pictured) during UFC Fight Night at SSE Hydro.

Stevie Ray entered free agency with his loss to Paul Felder. "I'm climbing the ladder, moving up the ranking, and in a main event now". Ray got dropped in the first round and Felder finished with him with brutal elbows from top position. Devastating first-round KO from @SPonzinibbioMMA!

The welterweight division is notoriously a snake pit, where it's tough to string together several wins in a row, but if the fighters at 170 pounds didn't have an eye on Ponzinibbio before now, he certainly made everyone pay attention to him with this victory. Teymur has all six of his wins by stoppage with three knockouts and three submissions. After losing the first round, the Scottish lightweight caught the Swede with a right hand. She almost secured a rear-naked choke only to have the bell sound to end the fight at the end of the third.

Legendary Irish flyweight Neil Seery put on a vintage display in his retirement bout against Alexandre Pantoja.

Nelson has won his last two fights, earning performance of the night honors in both of them. After Pantajo sealed the first round, Seery came into his own in the second round and connected with multiple right hooks.

"I am the best striker in this division, I am the next champion in this division", he boldly declared after the fight.

There was further disappointment for Charlie Ward as the Portlaoise native was brutally knocked out in the first round of his bout with England's Galore Bofando. Albert Morales enjoyed some success on the feet, but was completely dominated on the ground. She took Calderwood down in the first and third rounds and threatened with chokes and armbars.
