After going through a miserable last season, losing both La Liga and UEFA Champions League to rival Real Madrid, the Catalan side this season are keen to add solid depth to their midfield and reportedly have targeted last year's Manchester United Player of the year Ander Herrera.
Herrera - who was named the Red Devils' player of the year last season - started an online war by posting a video of him playing beach football and trying out his goalkeeping skills.
Herrera's former Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde has taken charge at Camp Nou, leading to the speculation, but he says he is happy at Old Trafford.
He was quoted while speaking after United's 5-2 friendly win over LA Galaxy when he said: "There is nothing certain about Barcelona because I am very happy at United and I feel valued and focused here".
"But David is one of the few goalkeepers who gives you points so I'm going to do my best to keep him here".
Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed that he is looking forward to taking on Real Madrid in the European Super Cup on August 8.
"Madrid are the most powerful team of the moment", Herrera suggested.
"Getting back into the Champions League was crucial for the club, we'll be one of the teams to beat".
He has just a year left on his current deal and will sign a four-year contract at £200,000-a-week, with bonuses which potentially makes the deal worth over £41.6m.
